Samantha Günter – she is in her element in the hotel industry

The 18 Sorell Hotels form part of the diverse world of the ZFV Group. The employees at these individual city and holiday hotels work hard to make guests feel at home. This also goes for the Sorell Hotel Rüden in Schaffhausen, an historic guildhall whose roots date back to the 18th century. This is where Samantha Günter works with passion as an operations assistant.

Her fascination with the hotel industry was instilled in her from infancy. She grew up in Stein am Rhein, where her parents ran the Hotel Adler and its restaurant. She learned at first hand what it takes to make guests feel at home. Samantha began her professional training with a culinary apprenticeship at the Klinik Schloss Mammern. She then went on to gain cooking experience in Switzerland and abroad on her way towards becoming a sous-chef, while also helping her father in the kitchen at the family business.

A fascination with the hotel industry

However, Samantha Günter was still gripped by a fascination with the hotel industry – the aim of not only providing guests with outstanding cuisine but also enabling them to have a thoroughly enjoyable stay at the respective hotel. Samantha decided to continue her training with a course at the Hotel Management School in Thun. After successfully graduating, she worked for a catering company in Winterthur in a role covering several different areas. She planned events ranging from intimate to large with up to 400 people, starting with the initial customer consultation and administrative tasks to actively helping out at the events themselves. This all proved to be important preparation for her current position at ZFV.

Always in action on behalf of guests

Totally in her element – Samantha Günter has been an operations assistant at the Sorell Hotel Rüden for over two-and-a-half years now. Her versatile role means that she is in action all day on behalf of guests. Samantha's tasks include acting as deputy to the General Manager, Marco Valmici, coordinating the Reception and Housekeeping team, doing the cash accounting, overseeing the orders management, and other administrative duties.

But the majority of her time is spent on seminar and events management, this city hotel's core business. Samantha processes the incoming enquiries, creates the requisite offers and coordinates the implementation of the events with the hotel team. Together with Mr Valmici, she is the on-site point of contact for guests and discreetly implements any last-minute changes behind the scenes. She appreciates the valuable encounters with people from all walks of life and engages with guests' individual wishes and needs with great sensitivity.

One big family

Samantha Günter loves the great team spirit at the Sorell Hotel Rüden. Employees communicate openly with one another and they all unhesitatingly help each other out. Samantha also appreciates the outstanding dialogue with the other Sorell Hotels and feels right at home in the ZFV family. She can turn to the Zurich head office regarding a range of issues and receive professional support.

Samantha Günter is constantly continuing her professional development. She uses the internal further training opportunities and forges contacts with employees from other businesses. This always provides her with fresh inspiration, which she then brings back with her to Schaffhausen and puts to good use at the Sorell Hotel Rüden. The whole team is passionate about continuously impressing the hotel's guests and progressing together – this is also what Samantha Günter counts as her greatest success.
